Houchens Industries donates $10,000 to support Haiti Relief Efforts

Houchens Industries presented a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross to help support the Haiti Relief efforts. The check was presented to Jennifer Capps, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of South Central Kentucky chapter on February 23rd.


“The support from Houchens Industries is very appreciated and will be helpful in the relief efforts for the people of Haiti,” said Jennifer Capps.


The local Red Cross will present the donation to the National Red Cross, as they oversee the relief efforts.


The January 12 Haiti Earthquake was a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake. Its epicenter was approximately 16 miles west of Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital. The Haitian Government reports that between 217,000 and 230,000 people have been identified as dead, an estimated 300,000 injured, and an estimated 1,000,000 homeless.


“We understand the devastation of this tragedy and we want to help the citizens of Haiti during this difficult time. We hope our support can provide some relief,” said Sarah Harlan with Houchens Industries.
