December 30, 2009 - The Save A Lot Division of Houchens Food Group raised $110,000 to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

December 30, 2009 - The Save A Lot Division of Houchens Food Group raised $110,000 to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During the month of October, every Houchens Save A Lot store worked at greeting customers at the register and asking them to donate one dollar toward St. Jude by purchasing a paper pumpkin. They then sign and the store attached the pumpkin to a wall or window at the front of the store.

Last year, Division 11 managed by Gary Wood and Divisions 2, 6, 9 managed by Don Sidwell, raised $47,000. After making the presentation of the check last year, Gary said they felt a heartfelt need to raise more money and get every division on board.

“Working with St. Jude’s Research Hospital will touch your heart in many ways,” said Gary Wood.

They began to work with Allyson Moore, Event Marketing Representative for St. Jude’s Research Hospital, to accomplish this goal.

With every Houchens Food Group Save A Lot store contributing, they were able to deliver a check for $110, 000 to St. Jude’s this year, and were the fourth largest contributor for this event in the United States.
